Chili pepper is an important crop widely grown and consumed as a condiment in Pakistan. A distinct bipartite Tomato leaf curl Palampur begomovirus (ToLCPMV) was found to be associated with chili pepper plants showing characteristics symptoms on the leaves. On the basis of symptoms it is predicted that ToLCPMV is associated with chili pepper leaf curl disease. The presence of ToLCPMV in chili pepper plants was confirmed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and southern blotting. The PCR product was cloned into the pTZ57R/T vector and sequenced. The sequence was available in the databases under the accession number HF912449.
